Seiko Prospex Solar Chronograph 1969 Re-interpretation 'Pogue' SSC947P
In 1969, Seiko released the world’s first automatic chronograph equipped with both vertical clutch and column wheel, known as the Seiko Speedtimer.
Under the curved sapphire crystal glass of the SSC947P1 is a vivid yellow dial, characteristic of the 6139 original, the second hand, and subdial minute hand at 6 o’clock are in a bright red. With 12 spots of Lumibrite across each of the wide vintage-style indices, this Speedtimer is designed for legibility in dark conditions.
In the original style, the SSC947 has a blue and red aluminium bezel with a tachymeter feature and a chronometer second scale on the inside dial ring. The bracelet is tapered from the lugs all the way to the buckle.
This modern version of the Speedtimer SSC947P features a V192 solar chronograph calibre which charges in both natural and artificial light. Accurate to +/- 15 seconds per month, it has a power reserve of 6 months at full charge.
The Seiko SSC947P1 Prospex Speedtimer is a solar-powered watch with 100m water resistance. The SSC947P features a classic-looking chronograph with a metallic vivid Yellow dial and a stainless steel case and bracelet with a three-fold clasp with a push-button release. The glass used is Curved Sapphire Crystal.
Featuring the Seiko Solar V192 movement, the SSC947P1 has an approximate accuracy tolerance of +/- 15 seconds per month and a 6-month Power reserve once fully charged. This model is finished in full Stainless Steel with a pull-out crown. The hands and the markers have lumibrite to make them visible at night (once fully charged). The case size is 41.4mm and thickness 13.3mm with a lug-to-lug size of 45.9mm and the entire watch weighs approximately 160gm.
The additional features of the SSC947P Speedtimer are a screw case back, Tachymeter function, 24-hour hand, a chronograph up to 60 mins in 1/5 second increments, a date display, small second hand, overcharge prevention function and a resuming electric power generation display.
