Paying tribute to a monumental milestone in horological history, the Seiko Presage HCC005 is a modern reinterpretation of the 1913 Laurel—Japan’s very first wristwatch. The defining feature of the HCC006 is its inky black dial. Produced under the supervision of renowned lacquer master Isshu Tamura in Kanazawa, the dial is created through the traditional art of Urushi. This demanding technique involves applying successive layers of lacquer by hand and repeatedly polishing them, resulting in a rich, bottomless black with a unique, subtle luster that won't fade over time. This creates an elevated, elegant look perfect for a man who wants a watch that blends traditional aesthetics and cultural significance with modern day refinement.

Contrasting beautifully against the dark dial are elegant, gold-colored Arabic numerals that mimic the original Laurel's typography, alongside matching gold hands and indices. A 24-hour subdial is cleanly integrated at the 6 o'clock position.

Housed in a 39.6mm stainless steel case treated with a super-hard coating, the watch balances vintage aesthetics with modern durability. It is powered by Seiko’s in-house Calibre 6R5H, an automatic movement that delivers a robust 72-hour power reserve. The movement's finishing can be admired through the screw-down exhibition sapphire caseback.

Completing the classic look is a supple, oil-tanned leather strap sourced from LWG-certified tanneries, ensuring both comfort and environmental mindfulness.
